The new year is underway and I will not say "New year, New me!" as a new me came about over the summer after a devastating end to a nearly 3 year relationship and as I ventured into the world of chronic health issues. Everything is finally back to where it should be. I am no longer the rock-hard, hair shaved, angry feminist promising to never love again. No, by the end of October my heart had been softened by a man who respects me and supports my endeavors (and will assist when he knows my crazy, stubborn self needs a break or has taken on too much...as I am known for doing). Moving out of the apartment I shared with my ex, apartment viewing, and applying for my own studio apartment has proven to be an adventure. This weekend I plan to submit my application for my first place. I have either lived at home with my parents or with a boyfriend, never entirely on my own and I owe it to myself to do so at least once. Aside from personal/home life I have taken on other ventures such as: continuing the web story (chapter 3 is in the works), a colleague and I have begun a local creative writing peer review group to aid ourselves and friends in revision/editing of our personal projects, and I am taking down the jewelry website "Ideas are Brewing" to rename, revamp, & re-brand my hobby to hopefully turn it back into a business. Originally I had planned on selling more than jewelry and soap, however, a better business model has me not stretching myself thin. Every so often if I am proud of a piece I wish to part with I may list it for sale; these items may include journal covers, paintings, cross stitch, etc. For now though I will focus on my writings, jewelry, and handmade soap. Originally I worried that living on my own during the summer would lead to feeling alone or isolated from the world, on the other hand my sweetheart has suggest that I find a work space outside of my abode where I can create my jewelry, update my websites, and write as though I were off to work for the day. A wonderful idea that I will implement; all I need now is to find such a location and work up a schedule for the summer.
